Window Tint Care & Cleaning

Drying Time
It will take about 5 to 7 days for your new window film to fully dry.

The film can dry in a few hours in the summer and up to a few weeks in the colder winter months. During this time the window will appear hazy and there will be some small water pockets caused by excess moisture trapped between the glass and the film forming a kind of 'blister'. Do not squeegee, prod, or poke these water blisters, they will disappear once all the water has evaporated.

DO NOT roll your tinted windows down until they are dry, otherwise the film could peel.

Cleaning & Care

The best way to clean your tinted windows is by using a soft cloth or regular paper towel (not the brown, scratchy stuff) and soapy water. Do not use ammonia based products such as Windex, unless they are specially designed for aftermarket tint. Over time, the ammonia could react to the chemicals used in the film and cause blotchiness. Stick to soap and water!

To keep your film looking great, follow a few simple guidelines:

  • DO NOT use abrasive pads, cleaners or industrial strength glass cleaners
  • Use a soft cloth with a mild soap and water solution. That’s it!
  • Allow film to cure 5 to 7 days before lowering windows.
  • REMEMBER: Your new film takes 2-3 weeks to fully cure. You may see some haze or condensation during this period.

Scratch Resistant Coating & Seat belt Chips

Although all of our films are manufactured with a "durable scratch-resistant" coating, this does not mean the film is scratch-proof. Be careful when loading sharp metal objects or boxes into your car, installing baby seats, while removing your seatbelt, with watches and jewelry, it is very easy to make small nicks in the tint.

Paint Protection Film Care Instructions

Paint Protection Film

Paint Protection Film should be cared for in the same way you would care for the paint on your vehicle. The product can be washed and waxed along with the rest of the vehicle. If any wax residue remains at the edge of the film it can be removed with a lint-free cloth. If you use a high pressure wash to clean your vehicle, you should keep the high pressure nozzle at least 12 inches from the edge of the film to prevent lifting of the edge.

To keep your film looking great, follow a few simple guidelines:

  • Wait 72 hours after installation to wash your car.
  • Frequent washings are recommended.
  • REMEMBER: Your new film takes 30 days to fully cure. You may see some hazing or condensation during this period.
  • Use only soft terry cloth or microfiber towels on the film.
  • Do NOT wipe or scrub the film in direct sunlight or when the film is hot.
  • Do NOT use abrasive cleaners on the film.
  • Do NOT use dyed or colored car waxes on the film.
  • Do NOT use solvent based digressers.
  • Remove any wax build-up along film edges with a lint-free cloth.

What to Expect Immediately After Installation:

Immediately after installation there may be a small amount of setting solution under the film. This is normal and will dissipate in a short time (up to a week depending on climate conditions). Do not press on the area with the solution. The look is very similar to the temporary blemishes found with window film application. It looks like streaking or watery bubbles. This is part of the curing process and these visual annoyances will clear up.

Minor variations in the material itself will also clear up after time and exposure to the elements. Some cosmetic imperfections, often referred as “disturbed adhesive” are unavoidable and can make themselves evident as a result of the installation technique necessary to apply the film.

Waxing the Film

Contamination from road oils, diesel smoke, pollen, and pollution can cause discoloration and de-glossing of the film. Traditional automotive waxes can provide a small level of protection against contamination. Waxes that contain dyes and other chemicals such as naphtha or kerosene may discolor or de-gloss the film over time and should be avoided. When waxing/polishing the film, it’s recommended to overlap the film edge with ¼ inch painter’s masking tape. This will prevent any wax build-up along the film edge. If tape is not available use a soft cloth dipped in isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol to clean the edge.
